• 1998: Lexington, KY outsources various backroom functions to the Cincinnati United Way serving as the conceptual foundation for United Way Shared Services.
• 2000: feasibility study for technology shared services funded by Cincinnati and Columbus, six United Ways become founding members of new non-profit, Upic CEO hired.
• 2001: incorporated as 501-c-3 tax exempt organization, built first commercial data center for United Ways, selected Andar as the Upic standard for campaign database management, early adopter of Andar e-pledge, pioneered paper pledge processing services, Andar hosting begins.
• 2002: primary development partner for Andar Allocations/Outcomes online module, Upic revenue crosses $1 million/year, 59 e-pledge accounts hosted by Upic raising over $27 million online.

• 2004: consolidated six United Way IT departments into a single shared services group, creation of first shared services help desk for United Ways, first national contract for PC repair and replacement, Upic headquarters established in Cincinnati, staff expands from 2 to 12, 250 workstations under management, first CIO hired.
• 2005: eliminated Upic membership fees, moved into current headquarters location near Cincinnati airport, supported over 5000 help desk tickets/year, 1 millionth paper processing milestone, established Upic University distance learning opportunities, created Upic Virtual Office eliminating the need for local servers, United Way branded content management system for websites, Upic revenue crosses $2 million/year.
• 2006: workstation management doubles to over 500, collaboration with Boston United Way to pool volumes for paper pledge processing, mobile technologies first supported, Virtual Office installed in Louisville, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo, new help desk remote control capability piloted.
• 2007: paper processing expands to three data entry locations, 1.5 millionth pledge processing milestone, first CTO hired, Andar help desk created providing training/reporting capabilities, first Upic board retreat held in Chicago, 188 e-pledge accounts hosted/configured raising $36 million in online pledges, Upic members in 10 US States.
• 2008: St. Louis joins Upic, Upic begins semi-annual all member satisfaction survey, 3rd generation data center hardware installed, fiscal year changed to July 1-June 30 period, explored shared accounting services, Upic revenue crosses $3 million/year, 344 e-pledge accounts hosted/configured raising $64 million in online pledges, Upic members in 15 US States.
• 2009: Chicago joins Upic, Upic named top 100 managed service provider (#70), 450 e-pledge accounts hosted/configured raising $70 million in online pledges, 1000 workstations under management, 2.0 millionth pledge processing milestone, new internet filter and spam filter services offered, Upic members raise over $700 million, staffing at 19 positions.
